Janine Jansen discusses the Brahms Violin Concerto with her collaborator Antonio Pappano
Virtuoso violinist Janine Jansen graces the cover of the January issue of Gramophone. In a revealing interview she opens up to Gramophone's Charlotte Gardner about the joys and difficulties of life on the concert stage, and also speaks of her passion for the Brahms Violin Concerto, which she has recently recorded with conductor Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia for Decca Classics. In the video below Jansen discusses the concerto with Pappano and there is also a behind-the-scenes look at the recording sessions.
You can read the full Gramophone review of Janine Jansen's new recording in the Reviews Database, or alternatively you can pick up a copy of the January issue at all good newsagents. The recording pairs the Brahms concerto with the Bartók First Violin Concerto (in which Jansen is accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra, again with Pappano conducting) and is released internationally tomorrow (January 8).
