The Malko Competition 2024 for Young Conductors Final takes place on April 20 with live coverage right here on the Gramophone website and on the DR Koncerthuset YouTube channel. 

Every year the Malko Competition gives not only a unique opportunity to discover the great conductors of tomorrow, but also a special insight into the art of conducting itself. How do conductors communicate their ideas clearly, and sometimes almost imperceptibly, to a group of musicians that they have not worked with before? The Malko Competition and its broadcasts, with wonderfully insightful analysis from Gramophone contributor Andrew Mellor, provides several answers to that question.

This year's three finalists are Samuel Seungwon Lee (South Korea), Ana María Patiño-Osorio (Colombia) and Dong Chao (China), and each will conduct a Brahms symphony at the final concert.
