Plácido Domingo, one of our era's greatest tenors, is about to release his debut disc of baritone arias on Sony Classical - and iTunes is currently streaming the entire album for free.
It's actually a return to his roots - the singer had begun as a baritone before turning tenor, though recently re-embraced the register witha high-profile and critically-acclaimed performance of Simon Boccanegra (the 2010 Royal Opera House production was released on DVD by EMI).
Featuring 18 arias from nine Verdi operas - including Macbeth, Rigoletto, Don Carlo and of course Simon Boccanegra - the new disc serves as both Domingo's tribute to Verdi in the composer's 200th anniversary year but also, we might add, an impressive celebration of the musicianship of this most remarkable of artists.
