Following the success of this year's Wallace and Gromit Prom, BBC Learning and Aardman Animations have launched a competition inviting small groups of primary school children to compose their own mini film score to accompany a Wallace and Gromit clip.
As part of BBC Learning’s effort to promote education, the competition aims at inspiring youngsters to become film composers in their own right. As a helping hand to classroom teachers, the BBC will include on its website various resources to help children to develop valuable musical skills such as understanding rhythm and patterns, gaining confidence, performing together and experimenting with sound.
The prize will certainly encourage fans to get composing - not only will all shortlisted teams be invited to visit Aardman Animations studios, but the winning entry will also be recorded and broadcast on CBBC’s Blue Peter. The competition is now open and the deadline for entries is Monday December 3, 2012. All details on how to enter are on the BBC website.
