Watch Fatma Said singing Brahms, taken from last year's online festival

The Leeds Lieder Festival has unveiled its programme for this year’s event, which takes place June 17-20.

Directed by pianist Joseph Middleton, it will celebrate the multifaceted art of song, with concerts in Leeds Town Hall by a stunning line-up of today's leading singers, and repertoire ranging from Schubert, Schumann and Mahler to a commission by Hannah Kendall and improvisations by Hermes Experiment on works by Leeds-based poets.

Leeds Lieder offered online performances last year – some of which can be viewed online here - and as a hint of what’s to come this June, here’s a beautiful performance drawn from that selection, of Fatma Said singing music by Brahms, Lerchengesang Op 70, No 2, with Middleton on piano.

The four-day festival will be performed before a socially-distanced audience, while viewers worldwide will be able to book tickets to watch live on Leeds Lieder’s digital platform, available on demand for a month. For full details, visit: Leeds Lieder
