Yannick Nézet-Séguin, soon-to-be Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera and current Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as Principal Conductor of the Orchestre Métrepolitain de Montréal, has signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammohpon. 

Included in Nézet-Séguin’s planned recordings with DG is the next title in his series of Mozart operas, Die Zauberflöte, with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe this summer at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus. Other recordings in the pipeline include complete cycles of Rachmaninov’s symphonies and piano concertos with soloist Daniil Trifonov, as well as a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No 8 – all with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He also plans to record with the forces of the Metropolitan Opera, with which he recorded Carmen for DG in 2012.

Having risen over the last decade to become one the world’s leading conductors, Nézet-Séguin’s new contract comes on top of an already rich recording partnership with the Yellow Label. His complete set of Mendelssohn symphonies with the COE was Recording of the Month in our September 2017 issue, described by Richard Wigmore as a ‘fabulously executed’ performance that will ‘guarantee abiding pleasure’. Also released on DG is his series of Mozart operas, which includes a recording of Don Giovanni with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in 2011 (his first recording for DG) - and Così fan tutte with the COE, where he ‘shows himself to be an excellent Mozartian’ (Gramophone, November 2013).
