To comemorate its former Chief Conductor Claudio Abbado, who died yesterday, the Berliner Philharmoniker has made available many of the concerts they recorded together at no charge. The Digital Concert Hall, which this year celebrates its fifth anniversary, contains a host of Abbado-led concerts which includes the live Beethoven symphony cycle they recorded in Rome. You can watch Abbado performing with regular musical partners like Maurizio Pollini, Anne Sofie von Otter, Gil Shaham, Jonas Kaufmann and Karita Mattila. 

Among the vast number of performances available to watch are Alban Berg's Violin Concerto (with Isabelle Faust), the same composer's Altenberg Lieder (von Otter), Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde (von Otter and Kaufmann), Schumann's Second Symphony, Brahms's Violin Concerto (Shaham), Dvořák's New World Symphony, Mendelssohn's Second Symphony, Mozart's Requiem (a performance commemorating Abbado's predecessor in Berlin, Herbert von Karajan) and Debussy's La mer. It also contains Abbado's final concert with the Berliner Philharmoniker, given last May, which paired Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream Incidiental Music with Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique.
