Wigmore Hall concert on July 6 will raise funds for teaching at London-based academy
World Heart Beat, the London-based music education charity, will host a fund-raising gala at Wigmore Hall on July 6 with guests to include violinist Viktoria Mullova and flamenco guitarist Paco Peña.
Music performed will span classical and jazz, reflecting the diversity of styles taught by the organisation at its two centres, one of which is a newly-opened high-tech concert hall, studio and teaching facility at London’s Nine Elms.
All proceeds will be used to fund bursaries for disadvantaged children and young people to learn music at World Heart Beat. Half of all the academy's students receive free instruments and free tuition.
‘One of the big realities of today is the need for consistent financial support as the last thing we want is for money to be a barrier and prevent access to learning, so our fundraiser is fundamental to the programmes we offer at World Heart Beat,’ said Sahana Gero, World Heart Beat’s founder and Artistic Director.
Other artists appearing include jazz pianist Julian Joseph, singer Çiğdem Aslan and accordionist Zivorad Nikolic. They’ll be joined by students from World Heart Beat.
