Trio con Brio Copenhagen perform the 20th century master's great Piano Trio Op 24

To bring us into February we have the second movement of Mieczysław Weinberg's Piano Trio in A minor Op 24 performed by Trio con Brio Copenhagen. The recording features on brand new album 'The Passenger' that juxtaposes the work with Schubert's Piano Trio No 2 in E-flat major - written 130 years previous!

Born in Poland in 1919, Mieczysław Weinberg spent the majority of his career under the strict regulations and censorship of the Soviet regime. Despite this he was well regarded and very prolific with 22 symphonies, 17 string quartets, 29 sonatas, and 8 operas to his name. His style blurred the lines between tonality and dissonance (one could hardly tell this 'Toccata' was in A minor!) and has been frequently likened to his contemporary and close friend Shostakovich.
