For someone with a critically acclaimed discography of more than 40 recordings, it may come as a surprise that this is Joshua Bell's first album devoted to the music of Bach. For the latest Gramophone Podcast, Editor Martin Cullingford met with the violinist and Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields to talk about why he's decided to record the composer's two concertos for the instrument now, along with some intriguing arrangements of other works including the Chaconne from Violin Partita No 2.
