The Beethoven Journey – in which Leif Ove Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra toured and recorded Beethoven’s five piano concertos for Sony Classical, brought the project to this year's BBC Proms, now concludes with a documentary, ‘Concerto – A Beethoven Journey’, to be screened by BBC4 on Friday, October 23, at 7.30pm (and for a week after broadcast in the BBC iPlayer). The film will be available to buy as a DVD following the BBC broadcast.

To preview this superb documentary, James Jolly talked to the film’s director Phil Grabsky about how the project came about and the challenges of making a 90-minute documentary in the age of the soundbite.
