The Gilmore Artist Award is one of the most prestigious awards for pianists in the world, having previously been awarded to David Owen Norris (1991), Ralf Gothóni (1994), Leif Ove Andsnes (1998), Piotr Anderszewski (2002), Ingrid Fliter (2006), Kirill Gerstein (2010), Rafał Blechacz (2014), Igor Levit (2018) and, this year, Alexandre Kantorow.

To celebrate his award, Kantorow will be giving a special recital at the Dalton Center Recital Hall at Western Michigan University on September 17 at 2pm ET (7pm in the UK), which you can watch via a free live stream at thegilmore.org and below.

The recital programme will feature Brahms Sonata No 1, Schubert (arr Liszt) 'Die Stadt' (from Schwanengesang), 'Der Müller und der Bach' (from Müllerlieder) and Bach (arr Brahms) Chaconne from Partita No 2 in D Minor. The live stream will also include an on-stage conversation hosted by Brian McCreath, Director of Production for GBH Music, Boston, with Pierre van der Westhuizen, and Elizabeth Ostrow, chair of the Gilmore Artist Advisory Committee.
