Join the Berliner Philharmoniker for Mahler's Eighth in a cinema near you

The 2011-12 season of the Berliner Philharmoniker opens on Sunday, September 18 with a performance of Mahler's Eighth Symphony conducted by the orchestra's principal conductor Sir Simon Rattle. The performance will be streamed live from Berlin's Philharmonie into cinemas in the UK, Ireland and Germany (click here for details of participating venues and ticket information).

Prefaced by choral works by Thomas Tallis and Antonio Lotti, the performance of Mahler's Symphony of a Thousand will feature soloists Erika Sunnegårdh, Susan Bullock, Anna Prohaska, Karen Cargill, Nathalie Stutzmann, Johan Botha, Matthias Goerne, John Relyea and a trios of chorus: the Rundfunkchor Berlin, the MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig and the Knaben des Staats- und Domchors Berlin.

Further cinema relays have been arranged for January 27 (Ravel, Dvorák, Mahler and Schubert) and March 4 (Richard Strauss and Bruckner conducted by Thielemann)
