Presto Classical, the Leamington Spa-based record retailer (and mail-order store), has recently launched a custom pressing services for deleted recordings. Manufactured on site under licence from the original labels, the Presto CDs are indistinguishable from the first releases - with full booklets and inlays. 

One of the latest batches to be made available for re-pressing are 35 recordings that Universal pressed under the Gramophone Awards banner, all winners which cover almost the entire history of the Awards (which were launched in 1977).

Among the numerous highlights of the series, stylishly packaged in an eye-catching burgundy livery, are the complete songs of Samuel Barber (a DG set with Cheryl Studer, Thomas Hampson, the Emerson Quartet and John Browning), Emil Gilels's Hammerklavier (DG), Liszt's Swiss year from the Années de Pèlerinage played by Jorge Bolet (Decca), Peter Schreier and Sviatoslav Richter's Winterreise and collections of Scandinavian songs from Anne Sofie von Otter and Bengt Forsberg (DG), and Barbara Bonney and Antonio Pappano (Decca).

Long out of the catalogue and making a welcome return are Oliver Knussen and the London Sinfonietta in music by Takemitsu (DG), and Sir Colin Davis and the LSO in Tippett's Concerto for Orchestra and Triple Concerto (with György Pauk, Nobuko Imai and Ralph Kirshbaum).
