Deutsche Grammophon and Decca release a digital album tomorrow (April 6) to benefit the Japanese Red Cross. ‘Classics for Japan, Music for Healing’ features performances by Japanese artists and musicians who have enjoyed particular success in Japan, including Mitsuko Uchida, Daniel Barenboim, Seiji Ozawa, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Alice Sara Ott and Akiko Suwanai. Universal Classics (the umbrella company over Decca and DG) and all the artists will donate their fees to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

The 21 tracks include Fauré Pavane conducted by Seiji Ozawa, the slow movement from Mozart’s Piano Concerto, K467 (Uchida), the Allegretto from Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony (Saito Kinen Orchestra), a Chopin Nocturne (Ashkenazy), Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata (Barenboim) and Chausson’s Poème (Akiko Suwanai).
