A new film, made in 3D, of the Berliner Philharmoniker in concert is being screened in cinemas across the UK from May 9. Mahler’s First Symphony was made in Singapore’s Esplanade Concert Hall but for the Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances director Michael Beyer and cameraman and co-director Thomas Erkart ‘have developed a series of miniature stories based on the composer’s original titles for the movements “midday, sunset, midnight”.’

Using eight 3D and HD cameras transported from Germany, and technicians from Tokyo and New York, the project reaches fruition with its screenings in May. You can find a list of the cinemas screening ‘Berliner Philharmoniker: A Musical Journey in 3D’ at the Arts Alliance Media website. And here's a trailer of the Mahler.
