The repertoire is contemplative in mood, with medieval chants and liturgical texts a constant theme, beautifully expressed by their ethereal, beautifully blended voices

iSing Silicon Valley is a choral programme for girls, with a particular focus on diversity, based in the Bay area of California; from around 300 regular participants, 47 contribute to this collection of pieces marking the return to in-person performance following the pandemic. Chosen to reflect the losses and changes experienced by the young singers during that difficult time, the repertoire is contemplative in mood, with medieval chants and liturgical texts a constant theme, beautifully expressed by their ethereal, beautifully blended voices. The programme opens with a prayer to St Columba and Gabriel Jackson's Ubi flumen praesulis, and includes works by composers closely associated with iSing: Kenyon Duncan, Sungji Hung, Kile Smith and Andrew Smith; more information about them in the booklet would have been helpful.
