Choir & Organ has today announced that it will be working with the annual Three Choirs Festival as a primary media partner. This year's festival, held at Hereford Cathedral, will run from 26 July-2 August.

In operation for over 300 years, the Three Choirs Festival, which alternates between Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester, has long been known as the UK's leading choral festival and for its championing of lesser-known repertoire, support of local young singers, commissioning of contemporary composers and connections to British composers including Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Howells and Holst.

Choir & Organ Magazine shines a global spotlight on two distinctive fields of creativity, celebrating inventiveness and excellence in all their forms. In recent years it has committed to advocating for contemporary composers through its New Music scheme and its series on neglected women composers, while also highlighting choral and organ traditions, choirs and instruments throughout the world.

The partnership will see Choir & Organ support the Three Choirs Festival's vision as it continues its ambitious commissioning and uncovering of repertoire through speaking to musicologists, composers and leaders associated with the Festival.

David Francis, CEO of the Three Choirs Festival said of the partnership: ‘Three Choirs Festival brings people together through choral music and shared, inspirational experiences.  This new collaboration sees two champions of choral music come together to celebrate our incredible sector.  Through our work both partners highlight the positive impact choral music has in the lives of so many – artists and audiences alike – as well as the opportunities we provide composers to contribute to the future of choral music’.

Hattie Butterworth, Editor of Choir & Organ added: 'Growing up in Herefordshire, I've long known the impact of the Three Choirs on its community and the inspiration it can bring to young musicians. I'm thrilled that Choir & Organ is supporting the Festival's ongoing creative vision in making the magic of choral music accessible to as many people as possible.'
