Gramophone and Financial Times critic, Richard Fairman, and Gramophone's editor in chief, James Jolly, discuss the three Solo Vocal contenders in our last Gramophone Classical Music Awards podcast, presented this year in association with Steinway & Sons.

In contention are a disc of songs by Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, 'Songs Before Sleep' on NMC from a quartet of singers with Iain Burnside at the piano, Benjamin Britten's Songs and Proverbs of William Blake from Gerald Finley and Julius Drake on Hyperion, and Hugo Wolf's Italian Songbook from Christoph Prégardien, Julia Kleiter and Hilko Dumno on Challenge Classics.
