Gramophone Awards in the media

Nearly a week after the Gramophone Awards, we can look back and say that they were a great success! One way of measuring this perhaps is traditionally to look at how many people besides ourselves are talking or writing about it, and this year’s winners have certainly created a stir (my daily Google Alerts have been bulging).
For a start, seeing Artist of the Year Joyce DiDonato on BBC Breakfast TV was a good start to the day, and Record of the Year-winner Andrew Carwood’s appearance on the all-pervasive Today programme resulted in an interesting discussion about William Byrd the morning after the Awards. Various newspapers reported on the awards, with the most extensive coverage this far being given by The Times, with whom Gramophone partnered for the Music In The Community Award.
There were some nice surprises too. Although you can see far more extensive video coverage of the day at the Gramophone Player, I did also enjoy this film from the website Dilettante.
