An excerpt of La Bohème by Giaccomo Puccini, arranged and performed by Mathieu van Bellen and Mathias Halvorsen

Video of the Day brings an excerpt of the live performance of Puccini's opera La Bohème, performed in its entirety by violinist Mathieu van Bellen and pianist Mathias Halvorsen from the Beethoven-Haus Bonn. Arranged by the musicians themselves, the work brings together the parts of the soloists, the choir and the orchestra into a virtuosic piece for just their two instruments.

Our excerpt features one of most well-known arias from the opera- Che gelida manina a duet between protagonists Rodolfo and Mimi, marking their first meeting and the beginnings of their deep love for one another - an emotional moment wonderfully transmuted through this fascinating new arrangement.

A recording of van Bellen and Halvorsen's live performance of La Bohème is released on Backlash Music on 18th of November, in partnership with Orchid Classics.
