The pianist talks about his new album, which includes Rhapsody in Blue and the Concerto in F
Krill Gerstein’s latest recording is a celebration of the music of George Gershwin, including Rhapsody in Blue and the Concerto in F.
One of today’s leading virtuoso pianists, Gerstein initially studied both classical and jazz before focussing on classical, and so it's no surprise that Gershwin’s own remarkable skill at weaving both sound-worlds together has made his music a particular passion. In an age when borders between genres are becoming ever more porous, Gershwin, Gerstein argues, is truly a composer for today’s world.
